Who we are
We’re Chelsea + Grace, experienced midwives and mums to little ones.
Why did we start First Steps? Because time and again, as soon as a friend or friend of a friend found out they were pregnant, the questions came rushing in:
“How do I find a midwife?”
“When do I get a scan?”
“Should I go private?”
“Where do I even start!?”
The truth is — there’s so much information out there, but it’s hard to know what’s trustworthy. And with a stretched health system, even finding an available midwife (LMC) can feel overwhelming and stressful.
First Steps was created to help you navigate the maternity health system in Aotearoa, find reliable, evidence-based info, and feel confident making the decisions that are right for you and your whānau.
